A record-breaking win announced December 5 at the annual PRCA Banquet in Las Vegas, NV; Claremore’s Will Rogers Stampede PRCA Rodeo was named the Best Small Rodeo of the Year for the fifth time in a row! The announcement made PRCA history, a win of this magnitude, 5 wins in a row, has never been done before.
Last December the Will Rogers Stampede PRCA Rodeo broke a state record. It was the only rodeo in Oklahoma with four straight wins, an extraordinary achievement. “Claremore’s Will Rogers Stampede is an annual tradition. The event is a great celebration of the many cowboys and cowgirls that enter this award-winning rodeo, and brings the entire community together in celebrating”, said Tanya Andrews director of Visit Claremore. “We are a proud partner in this event. Our staff serves on the committee, assists with marketing the event and volunteer our time during Memorial Weekend to ensure all the spectators and contestants have a great time.”
The 2019 event will be the rodeo’s 73rd Anniversary, coming back on Memorial Weekend, May 23-26 at Claremore’s Stampede Park. Thursday night will kick off with the Clem McSpadden Tub-Handle Classic Steer Roping. Friday, Saturday and Sunday performances feature the best of the best in bull riding, team roping, barrel racing, saddle-bronc riding and bareback riding, calf roping/tie-down roping, steer wresting and the kiddos favorite muttin-bustin.
“The Will Rogers Stampede PRCA Rodeo in its 72nd year achieved its 5th Best Small Rodeo in America recognition by the PRCA last night. It is a credit to the pioneers of the past and the present committee members along with City and County partnerships. We have much to proud of as a community, our best rodeos are still in the works”, said Jim Thomas Claremore City Manager. “Friends come see what a championship rodeo can be, Memorial Day weekend 2019”.
